See the Evans City Historical Society.
Evans City was incorporated in 1882. It was a center of the area’s oil industry, and South Penn Oil had offices here. The Evans City Cemetery, just south of town in Jackson Township, is known as the opening location of the 1968 film “Night of the Living Dead.”
